Where an unrepentant geek talks about Battlestar Galactica & Life • Est. 2009

One year ago today, my younger sister and I bid farewell to Arkansas and moved to the capital of the Great State of Texas, Austin.

It was a great move for us on numerous fronts, and we’re enjoying living here very much. There’s so much to see and do, and loads of other things to see and do within driving distance.

Texas is a great place to live, filled with opportunities and a lot of polite, down-to-earth folks. And let’s not forget the friendly drivers.

I am looking forward to our second year and many others here!

It has taken me weeks to calm down after learning that the Emmys once again overlooked the remarkable work being done by the cast of Battlestar Galactica, particularly that of Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell.

It’s an absolute travesty that these talented performers continue to be ignored, especially now, when they are hitting every note so perfectly. Honestly, these two are giving Oscar-caliber performances — on TV!

In consolation, to Ms. McDonnell, Mr. Olmos and the rest of the BSG cast, I say, quite simply, thank you for your dedication to breathing life into your characters and this show. It is an absolute joy and my privilege to watch you work.
