Where an unrepentant geek talks about Battlestar Galactica & Life • Est. 2009

I have wanted to post something here this weekend regarding the final hours of Battlestar Galactica, but frankly, it’s taking me a while to get my thoughts together.

Until then, just let me say that it was one of the most powerful, uplifting and rewarding things I’ve ever seen in entertainment. It spans the gamut of human emotion with moments where you stand up and cheer and others where you break down and cry. In many moments, it was breathtakingly beautiful.

Recently at the U.N., Edward James Olmos said he hoped we’d look back in our lives and not feel like we’d wasted the 80-some-odd hours we’d spent with him and the BSG gang. I can honestly tell you now that I don’t feel I wasted a single moment. It has been an engaging, enlightening, and emotional journey from start to finish, one I’m glad I’ve taken.

I’ll say this again, this is the TV series I’ve waited my whole life to see and as it signs off, I am more than a little grieved — some would say that’s silly considering it is a TV show, but I know there are other fans out there who feel the same way. It’s like losing a dear friend. One that will be missed, greatly.

To the creators, writers, cast, and crew of Battlestar Galactica, thank you all for a beautiful ride.

To Mr. Olmos, Mary McDonnell, and the writers, thank you for a love story without compare — you are magic!
