I was watching The Horsemen the other night and found myself doing a double-take when I first saw Clifton Collins Jr. on the screen. He looked so similar to a TV cop near and dear to my heart, Miami Vice‘s Lt. Martin Castillo (Edward James Olmos). It was kinda uncanny with the black suit, narrow tie, and the mustache. Take a look and tell me what you think…

The resemblance kinda made me nostalgic to see Marty so I ended up cracking out my Miami Vice DVDs and watching some eps.

On an semi-unrelated note, Collins co-starred with Olmos in The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit, a Disney film based on a Ray Bradbury short story.

Gaffgasm!

Okay, I actually found Gaff to be my favorite character in Blade Runner, which began my days as an Edward James Olmos fan, so when I opened up the awesome Blade Runner Collector’s edition on DVD and found the little origami unicorn and the police “spinner,” I had a bit of a Gaffgasm — get your mind out of the gutter, folks! It just made me happy because I hadn’t realized they were a part of the package. A nice surprise for the Gaff fan!

Oh, and this completes my Blade Runner video collection. Have Collector’s edition in both Blu-ray and now DVD! Geekgasm!

Lost in Translation? Or Lapse in Judgement?

This is a kids’ backpack for sale at a local shop. Seriously. Either someone was asleep at the marketing wheel or this is a translation thing. “Kid’Doo” … come on, people!

Is there really a need to explain this? It has frat party game written all over it. Amazingly this is for purchase at Amazon.com. Anybody up for being a literal s***head?

I mean the rest of us have spent most of our life trying to get our underwear out of places we don’t want it, why would you willingly do otherwise?

Clever Geeks!

This was a priceless bonus to find in the package containing my Monolith Action Figure! Don’t ever say geeks don’t have a sense of humor.

Really? Are you sure?

After seeing this warning on four different airplanes I caved and took a picture. Seriously, where else would you be when you fasten your seatbelt? The concourse?

So I came home today from a doctor’s appointment and there was a note on my door that I had a couple packages. So I went and picked them up.

Now, I was expecting one, not two, but I thought maybe my sister had ordered something so I didn’t think much about it until I saw my name on it. When I saw Think Geek on the return label, I thought, “Okay, maybe I ordered something and forgot about it.” (Forgetfulness is happening more often these days than I’d like to admit.)

Anyhow, I opened the package and started laughing. There, in all its mint-on-card glory was a frakkin’ Monolith Action Figure and the packaging, much to my amusement says there are “Zero Articulation Points” … oh and “It’s full of stars!”

Of course, it didn’t stay mint on card — I know, bad geek! — but I couldn’t help it. And for those of you who don’t understand the significance, watch “2001: A Space Odyssey,” or better yet, read the book!
